To help APEC TELMIN5 delegates better understand Shanghai, and provide facilities for their meeting participation and touring in Shanghai, the Preparatory Office launched an official web site for the meeting. The web site allows both narrow-band and broadband access and adopts streaming media technology to offer clear pictures of Shanghai in terms of history, tourist attractions and traffic routes to those who visit the web site. In addition to that, the web site has a timely and detailed coverage of the meeting, with a right combination of text and pictures. During the meeting, the web site will give live broadcast of the opening ceremony, "Three-Party Dialogue" and press conference so that the Internet surfers will keep current awareness of the subjects discussed.
At the same time, the Preparatory Office kicked off a designated hotline for the meeting. The "82001" delivers bilingual (Chinese and English) services to give satisfactory answers to all the inquiries related to the meeting, or telecom development in China and offer general information on Shanghai.
More notably, the Preparatory Office presented each delegate a tailor-made "APEC TELMIN5 Communication Service Handbook", which is a bilingual (Chinese and English) version and illustrates service portfolio currently provided by China Telecom, local features of Shanghai, restaurants with specialty, tourist attractions and shopping paradises in Shanghai.
