Briefing for APEC TELMIN5- -

A briefing for the 5th APEC Ministerial Meeting of Telecommunications and Information Industries (APEC TELMIN5) was held on afternoon of May 22, at Hotel Equatorial Shanghai, attended by more than 60 people, journalists and consuls in Shanghai. The briefing, presided by Ms Jiao Yang, the Deputy Director of Shanghai Information Office released related information on the meeting. Wang Lijian, Information Officer of the Ministry of Information gave a presentation of the forthcoming meeting. Yang Guoqiang, Deputy Director of Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office, outlined the preparatory works for the meeting and announced that ongoing preparations are close to fulfillment. Sun Jianping, Deputy Director of Shanghai Informatization Office, illustrated the current situation of informatization deployment in Shanghai and the framework for the future development. Zhang Chenghe, Assistant General Manager of Shanghai Telecom Corporation and others answered questions raised by journalists.

The participating journalists and consuls expressed enormous interests in informatization deployment in Shanghai and asked for relevant materials. Heads of different departments answered questions such as meeting agenda, discussion subjects, delegates' accommodation and traffic control during the meeting.

The briefing lasted 45 minutes.
