Swellfun Listed as a Major Historical Site under State-level Preservation

 

 

Swellfun, a time-honored distillery of China, starting in late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty and still in use today, won a good reputation of "A living historical site". It was elected by the State Cultural Relics Administration one of the Ten Major New Archaeological Discoveries in China in 1999 and deemed as the No.1 Liquor (Chinese White Spirit) Distillery in China. In 2001, Shanghai-based Grand World Guinness Headquarter named the distillery as the "Oldest Distillery". In the same year, the distillery was listed by the State Council among the Major Historical Sites under State-level Preservation. On August 12, 2001, Chengdu Swellfun Co. Ltd. will held a ceremony in Shanghai International Convention Center to contribute to training programs for hospitals and schools in Shanghai.

Shanghai Philatelic Corporation specially issues a souvenir cover in commemoration of the event.
