The phrase "Law of Attraction", although used widely by esoteric writers, does not have a consensual definition. However, the general consensus among New Thought thinkers is that the law takes the principal "like attracts like" and applies it to conscious desire. That is, your thoughts (conscious and unconscious), emotions, and beliefs will find a way to manifest and cause a change in the physical world that attracts positive or negative experiences that correspond to the aforementioned thoughts, with or without the person taking action to attain such experiences. This process has been described as "harmonious vibrations of the law of attraction", or "you get what you think about; your thoughts determine your experience". Other definitions include "the law of attraction is neutral"; "all forms of matter and energy are attracted to that which is of a like vibration"; "you are a living magnet"; "you get what you put your energy and focus on, whether wanted or unwanted"; "energy attracts like energy"; "everything draws to itself that which is like itself" and "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he".
Here are some ways of expressing the law: birds of a feather flock together; whatever you want wants you; what you sow, you reap; what you put out you get back; and what comes around goes around.
The law is fun to learn and use because you are always watching, waiting expectantly for your desires to manifest. You can deliberately use this law to create your future. This universal law is working in your life right now, whether you are aware of it or not. You are attracting the people, situations, jobs and much more into your life. Once you are aware of this law and how it works, you can start to use it to deliberately attract what you want into your life.
There are just a few basic steps to create your desires using the powerful law: get very clear on what you want; visualize and raise your vibration about it; and allow it. A major factor behind the law is the energy and vibrations of your emotions and feelings. Any thought you may have, when combined with emotion, vibrates out from you to the universe and will attract back what you want.
People who are efficient in attracting positives have trained their minds to focus on their desires. Abundance comes to them naturally.
In 2006, a film entitled "The Secret" based on the law was released and then developed into a book by the same title. The successful movie and book gained widespread attention in the media in the United States.
Some proponents of a more modern version of the law claim that it has roots in Quantum Physics. According to them, thoughts have an energy that attracts like energy.
