Weird Habits

May 2, 2008

Everyone has some weird habits. What are yours? Is there anything you do when there is nobody around? Or anything you are ashamed of? Or anything you just do and you do not care if there is somebody watching your doing?

Here are some confessions people made.

He has to wash his hands three times before eating anything.

He washes his hands every time he touches something remotely dirty.

He brushes his teeth at least four to five times a day.

He brushes his teeth after eating or drinking anything other than water.

He is constantly moving his right leg up and down, when he is nervous or when he is sitting still.

Whenever he uses a computer, no matter what he is doing he is constantly pressing the four arrow buttons up and down or side to side over and over and over. He is not sure why; his fingers just need to press something.

His right foot is always out at a slight angle while he walks.

When he walks in circles, he does it counter-clockwise automatically. He has to purportedly force himself to do it clockwise.

Whenever he is walking down stairs, when he gets to the last two or three steps, he always has to jump down to the floor rather than use the last few steps to get there.

He jumps around and runs around when he thinks happy thoughts and gets excited.

He claps his hands when he is happy - even in public.

He rubs the bridge of his nose when he is getting a headache.

He always has his hands in his pockets in public.

He always writes reminders on his hand; he knows he will see it there.

He plays with his hair a lot.

He is obsessed with playing with the hair on the back of his head (the lower portion that does not grow with the regular flow of hair).

He plays with his pubic hair sometimes.

He has to unfold all folded corners in a book (especially an old one).

After putting something in the microwave for too long, the food is too hot. So he puts the plate in the freezer for about a minute or two. That does not work that well, but he feels better.

He thinks best while walking or in the shower.

He takes two showers a day, though most people he knows only take one. For him, the one in the morning serves to wake him up, while the one in the evening puts him to sleep.

He is obsessed with neatness and cleanliness. He absolutely must have two showers a day, and brush his teeth four or five times a day. He also carries around a little bottle of hand sanitizer, which he uses constantly. Everything in his room has to be organized perfectly, or he gets really anxious. If he knows something is out of place, he cannot sleep until it is put where it belongs. Everything in its right place - that is his motto.

He has to listen to music all day no matter what he is doing.

He is not musically inclined, nor a big fan of music but when he hears music his body reacts on its own, he nods in beat or taps with his foot.

He can spend like an hour in one store and end up not buying anything.

He almost always picks at/scratches blemishes that annoy him.

He bites his fingernails and picks the skin around the nail.

His big habit is picking away his fingernails and collecting them on the counter or put them in a bag.

He bows to people at odd intervals to acknowledge something they have said. It is not the full 60-degree formal bow. It is more like what you would expect from a martial artist: right hand in a fist, covered by the left hand, both clasped in front, face your opponent and give a quick 10-degree nod.

He makes his bed at night right before he "jumps" into it. The jumping part is a habit since childhood when he "used to" be afraid of gremlins and scary things under the bed.
