Sam found that he is much more productive in class after using a laptop several months ago. He uses Microsoft OneNote, an awesome tool, that saves his notes automatically and he has a tablet to make up the closest thing as a virtual pen and paper setup. It makes copying notes so much faster, and also there is something to do (with many games and other funny stuffs installed in his computer) when the professor is making his/her boring speeches. The only problem is that often there are diagrams they show in class and it becomes difficult to draw these diagrams in the word processing program.
Students like computers, but normally the computer rooms are very crowded at the schools. Fortunately, laptops are now affordable, easy to carry and with lots of memories. With a laptop, you can write something that pops/blows into your mind during the class hours. It will simplify your job when completing some assignment or any project and you will easily present your project in multimedia form. You can also listen to music, watch movies, or download something you are interested in if you want to put it into the entertainment use.
Laptops are quite handy most of the time, especially with the wireless technology available. Some students also use laptops, but not in all classes, as the school does not have wireless access all around the campus. And there are a few students who are always scared it would be stolen or broken if it gets too many shocks when walking and general transportation to and from the school. Some other students usually use their laptops at their dorms because the laptops run out of battery so fast. Sometimes the lectures are long and the power supply does not last that long. They also find it a hassle carrying it around and turning it off and on before and after class. They even find it more of a distraction than anything because a laptop can be a lure with so many features! With the Internet access, they would like to have more fun to chat with a friend on MSN or email. Also, it might be annoying for the professor and others in the class to listen to the typing.
