Ginger is a calming and soothing flavor with a touch of a bite to it that helps to keep you alert and calm. It is commonly used to help an upset stomach, motion or travel sickness or general low-grade fevers. It is also excellent for nausea and for warming you up when you feel cold. It is reputed to help ward off colds or improve your recovery time. Other benefits of ginger include digestive aid, circulation booster, flatulence, colic or indigestion relief and blood sugar reduction. It increases perspiration, soothes menstrual pain, helps reduce sinusitis and throat soreness.

Tea is the gentlest form of consuming ginger. Ginger tea has a spicy, invigorating taste. It is not only a refreshing beverage, but is also full of health benefits.

Ginger tea has been used as a remedy against flu and colds for centuries, both in India and China, as well as other countries in the East. According to Chinese culture, its powerful yang energy is what warms the lungs and stomach. Ginger tea has been used in China for 2,500 years to treat sore throat, nasal congestion, and sinus pain.

If you have ginger tea left over, store in a jug in the refrigerator. It can be reheated or drunk as iced tea.
